Metal Polishing
The term mirror polishing refers to the process implemented to make the surface of an object shiny so that the body in question shines with reflected light. This metalworking process constitutes a preparation activity for actual metalworking such as chromium plating, gold plating, silver plating and in the case of stainless steel it can be a final solution. In the real world, there are no perfectly smooth surfaces. All have a more or less high degree of surface roughness due to the microscopic roughness of the metal, which scatters the light rays in multiple directions. The purpose of the polishing process is precisely to file these microscopic irregularities in order to make the treated surface as planar as possible, so that the reflection of the light becomes more uniform, giving the surface in question the typical bright appearance. This result is obtained by controlled abrasion of the surface by means of very fine and uniform grain abrasives that effectively reduce the amount of surface roughness. Particularly used in the maritime environment, the polishing of metals allows precisely by virtue of its process, a perfect contrast to the corrosion of the salt or pollutants.
